Given that the People’s Choice Awards is a numbers game, there has been a lot of interest in ways to maximize efficiency in voting.
My friend Roc Lyn has devised this method:
Open two tabs in your favorite browser (I’m using Firefox) to http://www.peopleschoice.com and click “Vote Now” in both.
In the first tab, select “TV,” scroll to Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show and click on it.
Click on Outlander, then on “Cast Votes.” Normal so far, right?
This screen is the one we’re trying to avoid. It takes a few to refresh because PCA wants you to tweet or Facebook your votes. (Everyone knows what we’re voting for. Really, they do.)
So, as soon as this screen appears, switch to your other tab.
When I open the second tab, I go to “Favorite Actor in a New TV Series” or “Favorite Actress in a New TV Series” as soon as it opens, so it’s ready for me. Type Sam or Caitriona’s name into the write-in box and COPY it. Click “Cast Votes.”
Here’s the time-wasting screen again. That’s your signal to go back to the first tab.
Go back to tab #1, click the arrow at the lower left to go back to “Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show” and vote Outlander again.
Everything BUT the vote confirming screens refresh quickly. Hello, slow screen. Go back to tab #2.
Click on the arrow in the lower left to get back to “Favorite Actress in a New TV Series.” PASTE Caitriona’s name into the write-in box and click “Cast Votes.” Back to tab #1 and repeat.
By using the two-tab system, I can get 8-10 votes/minute done. I usually do 1/2 hour for Cait then 1/2 hour for Sam, while voting Outlander once for every time I do a write-in. Thanks, Roccie, for coming up with this!
